Coronavirus (Covid-19)

COVID-19 UPDATE November 19, 2020:  MANDATORY FACE MASKS As announced November 19, 2020 by the Provincial Health Officer, it is now MANDATORY to wear a face mask both inside our clinic common areas and treatment rooms and appreciate your cooperation with this when visiting Tsehum Harbour Massage. If you do not have a face mask, we can supply one to put on prior to entering the clinic. As always, we are taking extra precautions for your health and safety, including the ever present Covid-19 Health Screening Questions. Please be patient with this as it is our professional obligation to be vigilant regarding the health and safety of both our clients and therapists. Our Staff will be completing a Daily Self Assessment also for everyone’s safety. Please cancel or reschedule your appointment online at, call (250)655-1450 and leave a message or email [email protected] and stay home if you are unwell. We will be waiving our customary fees for cancelling your appointment due to Covid-19 related illness.

COVID-19 HEALTH QUESTIONNAIRE: For the safety of our staff and our patients that you (the patient) answer these questions to the best of your ability.

1. Are you experiencing any of the following: a fever, a new cough, a worsening chronic cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing?

2. Have you had close contact with anyone with acute respiratory illness or have you travelled in the past 14 days?

3. Do you have a confirmed case of COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19?

4. Do you have 2 or more of the following symptoms: Sore throat, runny nose/sneezing, nasal congestion, hoarse voice, difficulty swallowing, decrease or loss of sense of smell, chills, headaches, unexplained fatigue/malaise, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or nausea/vomiting?

5. If you are over 65 years of age are you experiencing any of the following: delirium, falls, acute functional decline, or worsening of chronic conditions?

If the response to any of the screening questions is yes, you cannot have a massage therapy treatment at this time. Call 811, go to or contact your physician for further guidance and advice. You can reschedule later after you are safe to be treated.

CLINIC ARRIVAL INSTRUCTIONS: We will be limiting the front counter/waiting room to one client at a time. In order to facilitate this when arriving at the clinic, please remain in your vehicle or wait outside (at a safe distance of 6 feet or 2 metres) as the clinic door will be locked, until we call, text or come and get you to start your massage. We now require you to wear a face mask as we will also. If you do not have one we will supply one to put on prior to entering the clinic.

Unless you require mobility or personal assistance, please come into the clinic alone and do not bring spouses or children where possible. This is important to promote physical distancing in treatment rooms and the larger clinic space.

Upon entry into the clinic (and prior to leaving) please wash your hands or use hand sanitizer at the station by the front door (where the water cooler used to be). Donning and doffing mask: wash hands as recommended for 30 seconds with soap and water prior to putting on a mask, prior to taking off a mask, and after disposing of a mask in the laundry or garbage (cloth or paper/disposable).

ENHANCED CLEANING AND DISINFECTING: Comprehensive cleaning/disinfecting procedures and protocols are in place to ensure a low risk environment for your and our safety. We are currently using Oxygenic for cleaning/disinfecting, which is an ecological green disinfectant that was developed to combine the power of peroxide with biodegradable emulsifying detergents to provide fantastic cleaning and deodorizing results. EcoLogoTM certified, fully biodegradable, Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) approved, as a disinfectant kills 99.9% of bacteria, fungi and viruses, as a sanitizer, kills 99.9% of bacteria, biodegradable emulsifying detergents. Canadian Drug Identification Number (DIN) #: 02497271 Active Ingredient: Hydrogen Peroxide - 7.23% Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) Approval for hard surface cleaning.

Chairs have been recovered with non-porous material so that we can clean/disinfect easier.

WATER COOLER: You will notice that we are no longer able to offer water for your use so if you feel you will need some during your visit, please bring your own.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: We would like to encourage you to pay securely thru Jane (our on-line booking system) or alternatively by taping your credit card or debit card on our Point of Sale machine. We can take cash, but would prefer the other methods of payment. Of course, we will continue to bill most extended health care plans as in the past. Written receipts will no longer be issued, instead they will be emailed to you. Please make sure that we have your correct email address for this.

GOING FORWARD: Massage Therapy is a vital part of good health and wellness. Healthy touch is a human need that has been out of necessity, recently lacking because of Covid-19 physical distancing. All of us at Tsehum Harbour Massage are proud to do our part in helping our community stay on track. Creating a low-risk environment for massage therapy includes good communication between RMTs and clients about steps taken to minimize risk of viral transmission. We need to communicate honestly with each other about what each needs to feel safe for ongoing massage therapy treatments. This Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented and fluid situation and these measures to keep everyone as safe as possible from becoming infected by it will likely change as we learn more about it. As Dr. Bonnie Henry would say “Be patient and be kind, we will get through this together.”

Be well!
